Overview

King Marcel Marollo III of the Maroll Kingdom has been very sick lately. His majesty declared that he has chosen Prince Guillaume or Prince Croix as the next king amongst his 9 sons. Two kings can't share a nation! Only the victorious one shall be appointed and enthroned to be the next king of Maroll. This battle is not just between the two rivalries but it will also determine the future of the kingdom.

Battlegrounds is a PvP System in which two teams compete towards specific objectives in various arenas, and has unique equipment and consumable rewards for participation. To enter the Battlegrounds Atrium, speak to one of the following Maroll Battle Recruiters, or use the Warpra.

To leave the Atrium, players can talk to the Teleporter (Located at 146 149) who will send them back to the town they entered from.

Changes Made

Eir:

  • Matches are now 6 vs 6, rather than 10 vs 10
  • Each match has a chance of allowing the players in the match to purchase four 50% EXP Manuals while collecting their badges.
  • Every round of BG now has a chance to increase the badges earned for that round as well as the following 5 rounds of BG.
  • At the start of each round, each team will be fully healed.

Loki:

  • Upon entering this area, players are dispelled. This only affects the buffs that can be activated by the player him/herself. Example: A Lord Knight can activate Berserk by themselves, so that skill isn't dispelled on the LK. A Priest can't cast Kaizel on him/herself, that that skill will be dispelled.
  • A Gender Swap Smith NPC has been added at location 163, 147 in the main room. It will allow you to exchange a Battleground instrument for a whip (and vice versa) if you have gone through a Sex Change. If you have one of the other gender's weapons it will ask you to trade 1 at a time. When the trade is complete, you will get your gender's proper weapon. Note: The refinement of the weapon and any card in the weapon will transfer over to the new weapon you receive.
  • Erundek, in the Battlegrounds Lobby, will store any extra Military Ration A's that you have. If you have over 10 in your inventory, he will take as many as needed until you have 10 left. This is due to the fact Military Ration A's no longer work if you have more than 10 in your inventory. If you have less than 10 in your inventory, he will automatically give you enough until you have 10.
  • @commands have been disabled in KVM to prevent people from using "@die" to abuse the system.
  • Players will now be dispelled of negative effects when leaving Battlegrounds.

Tyr:

  • Badges and Equipments have been removed due to abuse.

System

Rules

All Battlegrounds have the same basic set of rules.

  • The four PVP Battlegrounds are Tierra Valley, Flavius, Kreiger Von Midgard and Capture the Flag. Tierra Valley is a single round. Flavius is best two out of three. Kreiger Von Midgard is a Death-Match.
  • The matches have various player number requirements; enough players must be assembled before matches can begin.
  • Players must be Level 80 or higher in order to sign up with a specific recruiter NPC for Flavius, Tierra Valley, Kreiger Von Midgard or Capture the Flag.
  • After signing up with the specific NPC, players are moved to a special waiting area until the match begins.
  • Participation in battlegrounds is rewarded with various emblems or points, with the number gained depending on if you win or lose. These emblems or points can be exchanged for various rewards.
  • When a player dies in Tierra Valley or Flavius match, there is a delay before that player can re-enter the match.
  • There are limits in place to participation in Battlegrounds. Once you sign up for a battleground, there is a '5 Minute' delay before you can sign up for another match.
  • The Battlegrounds follow the War of Emperium mechanics rather than PvP mechanics.
  • Skill that cannot be used in War of Emperium cannot be used in the battlegrounds (such as Ice Wall, Teleport, and Warp Portal are prohibited). The Taekwon skills Running and High Jump are also prohibited. (However: Running has been enabled on Loki)
  • A Repairman (Located at 138 144), a Kafra Staff (Located at 148 147) and a Healer (Located at 148 153) is located in the Atrium.

Teams

The two teams are based on the rivalries of two sons of King Marollo: Prince Croix, and General Guillaume, who are battling for control of the Maroll Kingdom.

  • To play for the Croix Team, talk to Prince Croix to join then talk to the 'Croix Army Officers' on the South side of the Atrium that corresponds to the desired arena.
  • To play for the Guillaume Team, talk to General Guillaume to join then talk to the 'Guilliaume Army Officers' on the North side of the atrium that corresponds to the desired arena.

Each team must have the required amount of players, or the battle will not begin.

Caution: As there are two Flavius, Tierra Gorge and Kreiger Von Midgard Arenas, it is important to make sure that the participating teams are in the same instance's opposing chatrooms when attempting to participate, or the battle will not start. A Battleground Officer (Located at 154 150) will be able to warp you to different waiting rooms.

Battlechat

To talk with your team during the match, use the /battlechat command. All text typed in /battlechat will appear Purple, and you will only be able to talk to your team when in /battlechat. Party, Guild, and Open chat will not work until /battlechat is deactivated.

Battleground Arenas

Tierra Gorge

The Tierra Gorge is a very steep canyon with two forts residing north and south ends of the map. There is a ration depot for the Guillaume and Croix armies at the 11 and 8 o'clock directions. The battle starts at your army's ship and the goal is to advance and destroy your enemy's rations depot faster than they can destroy yours.

The Army that captures the neutral flag in the center of the battlefield will be rewarded with extra regeneration points, meaning their soldiers will resurrect more than the other side, giving them an advantage.

  • Two 'Forts' are arranged at the north and south end of the map.
  • Each 'Fort' has a 'Storehouse' that must be defended, and by destroying the opposing team's storehouse, you win the match.
  • There is a Neutral base at the center of the map. If your Team occupies this point, you will be able to spawn here instead of further back, along with receiving 3 Guardians to fight alongside you.
  • There is a series of back routes that are blocked by Barricades. By destroying these barricades, your team can gain an advantage.
  • There is a '25 Second' waiting period for players who are killed in battle until they respawn back on the map.
  • The Cooldown period during which a player cannot participate in another Tierra Gorge battle is shown in a player's Quest Window.
  • The Winning team receives File:7828.gif 3 Bravery Badge, and the losing team receives File:7828.gif 1 Bravery Badge.
Loki: Winning team receives 4. Losing team receives 1.

Flavius

The objective of Flavius battle is to score 2 points before your enemy by destroying their crystal. The crystals for both armies are protected by special barricades that cannot be destroyed by direct attacks but they can be removed by destroying the Guardians that protect the enemy army base.

The crystals are immune to every type of skill; your physical attacks are the only choice for destroying your enemy's crystal.

  • Victory is obtained by destroying the opposing team's 'Crystal'.
  • The Crystal for each team is protected by 2 Guardians that must be defeated before the crystal can be attacked.
  • When the crystal is destroyed, your team gains one point. Your team wins if you obtain two points.
  • Skills cannot be used on crystals.
  • The Cooldown period during which a player cannot participate in another Flavius battle is shown in a player's Quest Window.
  • The winning team receives File:7829.gif 12 Valor Badge, and the losing team receives File:7829.gif 4 Valor Badge .
Loki: Winning team receives 10. Losing team receives 2.

Kreiger Von Midgard (KVM)

File:KVMbg.png
Kreiger Von Midgard

To win the battle of Kriger Von Midgard you and your team must kill all the other opponents before all of you die. The first team to lose all their soldiers loses. Since you cannot come back when you die, taking care on the battlefield is essential.

  • In order to win, one team must reduce the other team's points to 0. In other words, it's a death match battle with survivors being the winners.
    • Each team starts with 1 point per player on the team.
    • Each team loses 1 point when a player dies.
  • Players have 5 minutes to decide the outcome of the match. If one team is not completely victorious after 5 minutes, that with most players standing wins.
  • After victory or defeat, players will be warped to a spot to collect their rewards and exit the map. This must be done within 30 seconds or the player will be forcibly ejected from the arena.
  • KVM Points are distributed as follows:
    • Levels 79 and below: Winning - 2 points, Losing - 0 points.
    • Levels 80+: Winning - 5 points, Losing - 1 point.

Capture the Flag

For Capture the Flag, you must capture.. the.. flag..

There's only ONE direct route to the flag. The other routes are blocked by barricades. The choice of where to attack or defend from depends on your team. Be cautious. Breaking barricades at base may allow for new defensive positions, or holes in your defense when you capture their flag and bring it back to base without losing a score.

  • Only 5 players are allowed to join per battle. All players must be levels 80+ on Eir/Tyr, or 200+ on Loki
  • To spectate Capture the Flag, speak to the Spectator Staff (Located at 146 147).

Battlegrounds Rewards

File:7829.gif Valor Badges, File:7828.gif Bravery Badges and File:7828.gif Heroism Badges are the three reward items that can be obtained in Battlegrounds. They can be traded in for a variety of different equipment. Tierra Gorge rewards you with Bravery Badges, Flavius rewards you with Valor Badges and Kriger Von Midgard rewards you with Heroism Badges.

Possible Rewards:

The equipment may have either the prefix Valor or Bravery depending on which medals are used to obtain them. Not all equipment can be obtained by both badges. Different badges cannot be mixed to pay for one item; you must pay the full badge price with one type of badge only. (The NPC will ask which type of badge you wish to exchange.) Badges can only be used to purchase items from Erundek (Located at 160 150). All Battlegrounds equipment is character bound.
