General
Blacksmiths can refine raw materials into usable metals and stones.
* Refine Iron Ore into Iron
* Refine Iron and Coal into Steel
* Refine Elemental Ores into Elemental Stones
Catalyst: Each refinement attempt consumes 1 Mini Furnace.
Alternative Refining
An NPC named Uwe Kleine in Einbroch (216,180) can refine Coal for a fee of: * 30 Jubilee * 4 Large Jellopy
Process
To refine materials, follow these steps:
- Ensure all required materials are in your main inventory (not in your cart).
- Use a Mini Furnace from your inventory. (Note: The furnace is consumed upon use, regardless of success or failure).
- A selection window will open. Choose the item you wish to refine from the list and click 'OK'.
- A confirmation window will detail the materials to be consumed. These items will be lost whether the refinement succeeds or fails.
- If successful, the refined item will appear in your inventory.
Success Rate
The base success rates for refining are:
| Material Type | Base Success Rate |
| Iron | 20% |
| Steel | 20% |
| Elemental Stones | 5% |
Success Rate Modifiers
The final success rate is calculated from the base rate plus modifiers from the following factors:
| Modifier Factor | Effect on Success Rate |
| Forging Equipment | Varies by item |
| Relevant Skill Level (Iron Tempering, Steel Tempering, Enchanted Stone Craft) | Increases rate for specific materials |
| DEX | +0.1% per point |
| LUK | +0.1% per point |
| Job Level | +0.2% per level |
Example Calculation:
A Blacksmith with 90 DEX, 50 LUK, and Job Level 50 refining Steel would receive:
* Base Rate: 20%
* DEX Bonus: 90 * 0.1% = 9%
* LUK Bonus: 50 * 0.1% = 5%
* Job Level Bonus: 50 * 0.2% = 10%
* Total Bonus: 9% + 5% + 10% = +24%
* Final Success Rate: 20% + 24% = 44%
*(Plus any additional bonus from Steel Tempering skill level and equipment)*
