crafting:blacksmith:forging

General

Blacksmiths can forge weapons from various materials. The materials used determine the weapon type and any additional properties (such as elemental attributes). Note: Forged weapons do not have card slots. Rods, Bows, Instruments, Books, and Katars cannot be forged, nor can Level 4 weapons.

For detailed material requirements, refer to the Weapon Materials page or the corresponding Smith skill for each weapon type (e.g., Smith Dagger, Smith Sword, etc.).

When forging, you have 3 optional modification slots. You can use these to add:

  • Elemental Stones: Flame Heart (Fire), Mystic Frozen (Water), Rough Wind (Wind), Great Nature (Earth). Only one elemental stone can be used per weapon.
  • Star Crumbs: Add seeking damage that ignores defense and cannot miss.
    • 1 Star Crumb: +5 damage
    • 2 Star Crumbs: +10 damage
    • 3 Star Crumbs: +40 damage

Process

To forge a weapon, follow these steps:

1. Ensure all required materials are in your main inventory (not in your cart).
2. Use the appropriate hammer for the weapon level you want to create (Iron Hammer for Lv1, Golden Hammer for Lv2, Oridecon Hammer for Lv3). The hammer is consumed upon use, even if you cancel.
3. Select the weapon you wish to create from the list that appears.
4. A confirmation window will show the materials to be consumed. Drag and drop any optional elemental stones or Star Crumbs into the three available slots.
5. Click OK. All listed materials and any added stones/crumbs will be consumed, regardless of success or failure.
6. If successful, the newly forged weapon will appear in your inventory.

Success Rate

The base success rate for forging depends on the weapon level:

Weapon Level Base Success Rate
1 0%
2 -20%
3 -30%

Success Rate Modifiers

Several factors influence your final success chance:

Smith Skill Level:

Skill Level Success Bonus
1 +10%
2 +20%
3 +30%

Anvil Type:

Anvil Type Bonus
Anvil +0%
Oridecon Anvil +3%
Golden Anvil +5%
Emperium Anvil +10%

Other Modifiers:

  • DEX & LUK: Each point adds +0.1% to the success rate.
  • Job Level: Each level adds +0.2% to the success rate.
  • Slot Penalties: Using modification slots reduces success rate.
    • Elemental Stone: -20% per stone
    • Star Crumb: -15% per crumb

Note: You cannot forge a weapon whose level exceeds your corresponding Smith <weapon> skill level.

Ranking System

Blacksmiths are ranked based on their forging achievements. Rank points are awarded for:

  • +1 Point: Refining a self-forged Level 1 weapon to +10.
  • +10 Points: Successfully creating a Level 3 weapon with 3 modification slots filled (e.g., 2 Star Crumbs + 1 elemental stone, or 3 Star Crumbs).
  • +25 Points: Refining a self-forged Level 2 weapon to +10.
  • +1000 Points: Refining a self-forged Level 3 weapon to +10.

Check your ranking using the `/blacksmith` command.

Rank Benefits:

  • Loki Server: Weapons created by a ranked blacksmith gain an additional +200 attack.

Item Look & Feel

The name of a forged weapon reflects its creator and modifications:

  • Basic Weapon: [Forger's Name]'s [Weapon] (e.g., `Yeef's Sword`). The forger's name appears in blue.
  • Nameless Weapon: If the creator's character is deleted, the name becomes “Nameless's [Weapon]” in red.
  • Elemental Weapon: [Forger's Name]'s [Element] [Weapon] (e.g., `Yeef's Fire Sword`).
  • Star Crumb Weapon: [Very]… Strong [Forger's Name]'s [Weapon]. The number of “Very” corresponds to the number of Star Crumbs (e.g., `Very Very Strong Yeef's Sword` for 2 crumbs).
  • Combined Mods: [Very]… Strong [Forger's Name]'s [Element] [Weapon] (e.g., `Very Strong Yeef's Fire Sword`).

This system allows for the creation of unique, powerful, and personalized weapons that are highly sought after in the world of Ragnarok.
