Brews, Elixirs, and Concoctions, or BECS, is a system introduced as part of the Conquest Expansion. BECS allows Alchemists and Creators to create new consumable items for varied effects on game play and combat.

The Books

There are three books:

The books (and empty bottles) currently can only be obtained on Loki, from the Mining Points redemption NPC. This is only temporary as the actual location they will come from is not yet implemented.

The Quest

The Quest is currently only available on Loki. Once you obtain the books, they are useless as they are written in a dead language using an ancient script. Each book has it's own NPC. Prof. Dalma will help you with Brews, and Prof. Song will assist you with Elixirs. Both are currently visiting in Yuno (51, 105). The NPC for the book you have will help you learn to make each item one at a time, until you have perfected it. You must make 3 items in a row successfully using the NPC specific to the book before the item is learned. The rate of success while learning is 75% for brews, 65% for elixirs, and 50% for concoctions. Once learned, you will be able to make the potions on your own and advance your knowledge. As you make potions, you will fail less and less over time. No base stats are used in the calculation of success or failure, it's pure learning progress and real life luck!

Brews

Brews are made by using a Book of Brews and by themselves do nothing. They are used as ingredients for Elixirs and Concoctions. They all require an Empty Brew Bottle. (Numbers given are for making a single brew.) You will need to bring a Fang Of Hatii , Dark Red Scale, and Cold Ice to Prof. Dalma before you can start brewing.

Elixirs

Elixirs are made by using a Book of Elixirs and are similar to potions. They have much stronger effects than typical potions. They all require an Empty Elixir Bottle. (Numbers given are needed to make a single elixir.) You will need to bring a Four Leaf Clover, Crest of Skoll, and a Fire Dragon Scale to Prof. Song before you can start making elixirs.

Concoctions

Concoctions are made by using a Book of Concoctions and are similar to weapon enchant scrolls. They enchant weapons with special statuses. They all require an Empty Concoction Bottle.

Learning

When creating the items you can learn to become better. The more you make, the better you'll become, and the less you will fail. The highest rate of learning occurs when a +1 and +2 item is made, as you have a 100% chance to advance your learning when making one of these. The second highest rate of learning is when you fail, as you have learned what not to do. The lowest rate of learning is upon success. Learning success is capped at 95%. Once you have maxed learning you are capable of become a master and/or guru (see below). Currently learning has no effect on quality.

Quality

HQ Elixir.pngfile_hq_elixir_png

When creating Elixirs and Concoctions there's a chance to obtain a higher quality (HQ) item, either +1 or +2, which gives an increased effect. In the case of healing items, more is healed, and for those granting buffs or status effects, the duration is increased.

HQ Formula: ( (Ranked?2:1) + (Mastered?1:0) + (Guru?2:0) )%

The formula above is used for deciding the rate at which a potion is HQ. When a potion is HQ there is the same chance that it will be a +2. So if your effective rate is 3%, there is a 3% chance that you will create a HQ item and a 3% chance that HQ item will be +2 (otherwise it will be +1).

Mastery

When creating an item which can have a quality, if you have learned it to it's full potential and manage to create a HQ item you will either obtain a mastery status for +1 or a guru status for a +2. Once obtained this makes creating the item for which you have mastery or guru status of easier, and increases the rate at which you create HQ versions of that item. Mastery only affects the item for which it is obtained. Once mastered for the first time, a server wide announcement is made noting your achievement.
